Fabric

I can’t even stand it anymore, I have to show you this.First off, I have to say I’m biased a bit toward this fabric. I mean, I did the printing and website for Sarah Jane for nearly 2 years. Not to mention that Sarah is one of my sweetest, most talented friends, and she’s right here in town with me! So really, I HAD to make something from her first fabric line, Children at Play, for Michael Miller.

And if you must know, I couldn’t just stop at one something. I mean, there’s a boy colorway and a girl colorway. What’s a quilter to do?

Plus, this quilt was BEGGING for some old style topstitching. Because again, this fabric was just too darling not to.

Both versions should be quilted, bound, (and ironed, ahem) in the next few days, and then, more (better) pictures. Promise.

What are YOU working on right now?

Just a few of the pretty pretty fabrics I’m working with right now:

So Sophie by My Mind’s Eye for Riley Blake Designs

Indian Summer by Zoe Pearn for Riley Blake Designs

Children at Play by Sarah Jane Wright for Michael Miller

Secret Garden by Sandi Henderson for Michael Miller

And these are just the ones I have pictures of. I can’t wait to get to these. As beautiful as they are in pictures, they’re stunning in real life.

I love my job.

What about you? What fabrics are you loving right now? What are you working on? Tell me!

Thanks for playing my silly guessing game! The winner of the mystery prize from my stash is commenter #12, Amber, who as it turns out hit the nail on the head. She guessed that it was garlic gone to seed, which it most definitely is. Amber, send me your mailing info at april@prairiegrasspatterns.com.

Amber wins a Verna honey bun (an oldie but goodie!) and a copy of my Grammy’s Scrap Basket pattern (which uses honey buns). If you’re sad you didn’t win, don’t worry. There are still a few honey buns left in my shop, and lots of patterns!

In other, giveaway-ish type news, I should be getting some fun fabric for a giveaway very, very soon, so stay tuned. Also, a public service announcement later this week. I’d do it now, but I’m having a hard time keeping my eyes open. I went to sleep at some ridiculous time last night (2:30ish?) only to be woken up at 6am by a sick child. On the upside, though, I got 9 quilts bound in a little over 14 hours, so yay. They’re off to displaced and orphaned children in Japan tomorrow. As for me, it’s off to the treadmill with some ice water to try and wake up ( I know, it’s 4pm. Sad state of affairs.) Hopefully I’ll be back later with some housekeeping and Farmer’s Wife blocks.

Happy Tuesday!

xoxo

I know, technically it’s nearly summer.

Tell that to the crazy weather around here.

At any rate, late or no, the spring cleaning is happening. Especially in my studio, where the fallout from quilt market is still evident. The most exciting part? I’m putting quite a few precuts in my shop that are pretty much impossible to find these days (Pure? Bliss? Yep, I’ve got them), at the prices they were before all this cotton price craziness. I’ve been holding on to them, but let’s face it. There’s just not enough room to keep it all.

Lucky you guys!

So check out the newcomers to the shop, and if you see something you must have, snatch it up. Several of these I only have a few of. I’ll be adding more throughout the day as I find them.

Mwa!
April

PS  Sent off a mystery package last week, so nice to be done! I can’t wait to show you later this fall.

PPS Off to the swimming park with the goobers. Should be exhausting, in a good way.
