Garden’s Edge: a free quilt block! Blogger’s Bar Hop Quiltalong

Hello friends! Thanks for stopping by for my turn at the Bar Hop!I’m supposed to tell you something about bars, but the only kind of bar I have experience with is a Pumpkin Bar with Cream Cheese Frosting–and let me tell you–it beats any other bar I can think of. :) Anyone want the recipe?

I’m sure by now you know the drill, but just in case you’re not, I’ll explain a little. Scott of Blue Nickel Studios asked us to make a block using Kinkame’s European Taupe VIII collection by Clothworks. We were allowed to use up to two of our own fabrics, I chose a solid and a print.(The light aqua and the brown print.)

My block is quick and easy to put together, and would be a great way to use of all those scraps you have laying around. Seriously.

I love how this block turned out, and think it would make a really fun quilt. Your thoughts?

Here’s the pdf if you’d like to print it. Click here.

PPS I got up at 6:25 am to go exercise this morning. It’s really dark that early. (But I DID it!)

Snow in Springtime: Machine Quilting Sue’s Christmas Table Runners

I know, I know, it’s spring, and this is a Christmas table runner that I machine quilted back before Christmas.

But hey, the weather thinks it should snow today, even though it was 70 degrees yesterday, so I’m just following Mother Nature’s lead.

Plus, I’m trying to catch up and show you all the quilts I have machine quilted that I have pictures of. (Next up a stunning black, white and red quilt made by my awesome friend, Kathy).

Sue made 3 of these fun table runners for her daughters for Christmas, and lucky me, I got to do some quick machine quilting on them!

Fabric is Countdown to Christmas by Sweetwater for Moda

Pattern is my free All Boxed Up table runner pattern.

Longarm Quilting: Grammy’s Scrap Basket

I quilted this version of Grammy’s Scrap Basket for my awesome neighbor and friend, Stephanie. I LOVE the colors she chose. I asked her what she wanted me to do, and she said I could do whatever I wanted. She knew I was just getting started with this machine and said I could practice.

I love that.

So, I decided to take each section of the quilt and do something different on it.

Some things worked out better than others, but all of it was fun.

I also love that she just used scraps from her stash to make this.

I mean, that was the idea behind Grammy’s Scrap Basket in the first place.

I made the original with a Honey Bun, but those aren’t being made anymore. And obviously, that’s okay since all this quilt takes are 1½” strips. A great way to use up leftovers from other projects.

I am so glad Stephanie let me play with her quilt, and have fun trying out some different patterns. It turned out so pretty! Plus, it’s always fun for me to see quilts people have made from one of my patterns. Thanks again, Steph!
